...and we're off! We arrived in Shanghai around 7:00 p.m. Sunday night. The flight surprisingly didn't feel like 16 hours. I slept a lot of the trip which I was regretting this morning when I woke up at 4:00 a.m. and couldn't fall back asleep. Anyway, Professor Liu met us outside and helped to find our bus. After a relatively short bus ride, we arrived at our hotel and checked in. The ride gave a small glimpse of Shanghai and the buildings, but I'm excited to see more tomorrow during the daylight.
A Small Taste
"An order of dumplings was only $1.70..."
After we checked in, Professor Liu brought us to a local Chinese restaurant. The menu was completely in Chinese, so Professor Liu described the different options to us. There were pictures which helped, but we would've struggled without Professor Liu there. The food was really good. We all split pork dumplings, and everyone mostly got a Japanese beef dish or fried pork. We were all taken back by how cheap the food was. An order of dumplings was only $1.70, and the main dishes were only $4.00.
