Today we took and train and visited Seele’s manufacturing headquarters. They‘re a steel manufacturer and glass installation company. Our company guide went over a presentation of all the different projects they do. She explained they mostly handle large curtain wall installations. They‘ve worked on tons of projects including a lot of the Apple stores.

We got a tour around their factory and testing site. All the steel and glass assemblies have to be intensely tested before installation. For wind resistance they use an old Russian plane engine to simulate high speed wind scenarios. It was very cool to see where these assemblies come from. Our guide talked about how they have international offices all over the world, but all the material comes from this office. We saw the main building, but as we were walking up there were probably 4 or 5 different buildings down the street with Seele on them. Part of this is because they have different branches of their company. One branch handles the steel while another focuses on the skins of buildings.

After the tour, we headed back to the hotel by train. We had our farewell dinner tonight, so we walked to Augustiner-Keller. We all got a soup appetizer, pork and potato dumpling main meal, and a strudel for dessert.
