Today we covered a lot of ground. We started by visiting the Olympic park from the 1972 games. It looked pretty modern for being almost 50 years old. It also felt kind of abandoned which I got the same feeling when we visited the Beijing arena. I did see some posters for recent events, so I think they use the park for special occasions.

Next, we walked over the BMW Welt and the BMW Museum. BMW Welt was cool and showed all the new models of BMW, Rolls Royce, and Mini Cooper. I saw them test drive this really sporty looking car and it was insane how quiet it was. I always thinks of sports cars being super loud, but I only knew they were driving it because I saw it, you couldn’t hear it at all. It was cool to see all the news cara, but my favorite was this tiny little old BMW you saw right when you walked in.

Then we headed to the BMW Museum where they had a lot more of these tiny old cars. I really enjoyed the museum. I love old cars, and they had plenty of those as well as old motorcycles, plane engines, and newer car models. There was one wall that showed the different motorcycle models throughout the decades. I know the new ones are really high tech and sleek, but I honestly like the older models better.

After the museum, we went to Marienplatz for lunch before our bike tour. I really enjoyed our bike tour. Our guide was super great. He brought some notes with him about Auburn and would work in what was happening in Auburn when major events were happening in Munich. It was a three hour tour but really only felt like 30 minutes. Our guide explained that a lot of the buildings in Munich were destroyed during the war and had to be rebuilt. They rebuilt them to look old and blend in with the buildings that survived. We also passed through Munich University and you could see where it had been bombed and restored. He said the new brick was meant to stand out to show its scarring from the bomb. He also would add some fun facts. He showed us the building owned by the guy who filmed the skiing scenes in the James Bond movies. He really put a lot of time into making the tour relatable and interesting, and I think we all really appreciated it.

Halfway through we stopped at the largest biergarten in Munich. It looked like a big picnic area. On the way back to return the bikes, we stopped at my favorite spot. On the river there was a place where someone made a wave area. Each side of the river had a line of surfers and they would go back and forth taking turns. It was seriously mesmerizing. The river was flowing so fast but the surfers were really good. One guy was doing a lot of tricks. I tried posting a video, but I can’t figure it out.
