Today we took a ferry to Hvar Island. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. We were greeted by our tour guide who took us on a quick walk around the city to point out some of the major historical landmarks. One of my favorites was when we stopped at this little church it was locked. Our guide had to call in and a nun opened the door for us. She showed us all these intricate pieces of lace. She explained a nun’s first two jobs are prayer and work, but in their free time they make these lace art pieces. She said they are a Hvar specialty and can only be purchased at this church in Hvar where the nuns live. A lot of the time people give the lace as wedding gifts.

After the tour we stopped by a grocery store to get bread, cheese, and drinks and headed to the beach. We found a good spot on some rocks and camped out for the afternoon.
